How to Detox Your Body (With a simple 7-Day Reset)

No juice cleanse, no starving yourself for a week. Let's down the story behind his 7-Day Reset, what a real detox actually feels like, and why we almost stopped calling it that.

How to Detox Your Body (With a simple 7-Day Reset)

By Easton Bryant, PharmD, Founder, North Century Pharmacy

In 2019, we launched something called the 10-Day Detox. It became the 7-Day Detox not long after. Then finally, I dropped the word "detox" entirely.

Here's why. I've built detox and reset protocols for years, and I've learned something: the word "detox" scares people off before they even start. They hear it and picture a water fast, or some laxative-heavy cleanse that keeps you close to a bathroom at the worst possible moments. That's never been what this is. But the name was working against the program for years.

So I asked our own community what to call it instead. Sixty one percent voted for something simpler: 7-Day Reset. No starvation, no extremes, just a doable way to feel better in a week. That's what it always was. It just had the wrong name on it.

If you clicked on this expecting an intense and rigid protocol, sorry! What actually works is a lot more boring than that, and a lot more doable.

What the 7-Day Reset Is

Here's the short version. The 7-Day Reset pairs two products with a modified elimination diet built around whole, low-allergy foods for one week. Twice a day, you drink a shake. Before bed, you take a capsule or two. You eat real, simple food and skip sugar, alcohol, and anything processed for seven days. That's the whole process, simple enough to actually stick with.

We'll cover exactly what's in each product further down. For now, here's what you're working toward: steadier energy, better sleep, a clearer head, and a body that finally gets a break from working overtime just to keep up. Most people drop a few pounds along the way, too. Customers who've done it talk about headaches disappearing, joint aches easing, and cravings losing their grip, not because they gritted their teeth through a hard week, but because seven days gave their body room to catch up.

That's really what this is. Not a punishment. A week to get ahead of everything your body's been quietly carrying, so you can feel like yourself again.

What's Happening in Your Body During a Detox

Every day, your body deals with things it wasn't built to process at this volume: industrial chemicals, pesticides, BPA, a steady stream of food additives. Most of these toxins are fat-soluble, which means they don't just pass through you. They settle into your tissue and stay there, sometimes for years, building up to levels higher than your environment alone would suggest.

Your body already has a system for clearing this out. It runs in two phases, converting fat-soluble toxins into water-soluble ones your liver and kidneys can remove. This is what a real detox actually supports: not some external fix, just your own system getting the backup it needs to keep up instead of quietly falling behind.

Sugar and processed food make that job harder. Cutting them back for a week gives your body room to catch up. There's a mental shift that comes with it too. A lot of eating is driven by reward, not hunger, and sugar is one of the strongest triggers for that. Take a break from eating for reward, even for a few days, and you'll notice it doesn't take much food to feel satisfied. That's not willpower. That's just what happens once the reward cycle gets a rest.

What It Feels Like, Day by Day

I’m going to give it to you straight.

Days 1 to 3 are the hardest. Headaches, low energy, irritability, and stronger cravings than usual are common detox symptoms this early on, and not by coincidence. This is when your body is working hardest to clear out what it's been storing. Feeling a little run down around day three is common. It's proof the process is working, not a sign something's wrong.

Bathroom regularity matters more here than people expect. Toxins your body preps for exit have to actually leave. Left uncleared, they can get reabsorbed instead of gone for good, which is exactly why Move Along is part of the protocol and not optional.

One of our customers, Cynthia, described those first few days exactly right: "I found it easy to follow. The only issue I had was my own the first 2 days, and that was all mental. I wasn't hungry but you are just so conditioned to eating and chewing that it was all mental." That's the whole first 72 hours in one sentence. Your body isn't failing you. It's being retrained.

Days 4 to 7 are usually where it flips. Energy evens out instead of spiking and crashing. Cravings loosen their grip. Food starts tasting like food again instead of needing to be sweet or heavy to register as good. "I feel great after completing the 7 days and it kickstarted eating healthy again," Cynthia said once she'd finished.

Why Seven Days Works Better Than an Overhaul

Trying to overhaul how you eat with no clear endpoint asks a lot of your willpower. You're fighting old habits every day, indefinitely, with nothing marking a finish line. That's a hard way to start anything.

A structured week works differently. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The hardest days are clearly marked as temporary, not as your new normal. Think of it as a guide, not a rulebook. Life happens, and a sensible substitution here or there won't undo your progress, as long as you steer clear of the sugar, alcohol, and processed food that got you here.

That structure is also why people come back to it. Leslie, another customer, put it simply: "I love calling it reset because that is totally what it is. I plan to do it a few times every year." That's the real use case. Not a single overhaul, a reset you return to on purpose, whenever you need it.

What's In the 7-Day Reset

Vitality Mix is a fructose-free, low-allergy protein shake. You take two scoops, twice daily, either as a meal replacement or alongside regular meals. It's built on a vegan pea and rice protein blend, plus Aminogen, an enzyme blend that helps your body absorb that protein well. It also includes mineral amino acid chelates and B vitamins in active, bioavailable forms, Quatrefolic and methylcobalamin, rather than the cheaper synthetic versions many people don't convert or use well. The goal is steady fuel, without asking your gut to handle common triggers like gluten, soy, or dairy while it's already working hard.

Move Along is one to two capsules at bedtime, and it's not a step to skip. It combines magnesium citrate for gentle elimination, Cape Aloe to support normal digestive transit, and Triphala, a traditional Ayurvedic blend that supports every phase of digestion. Leave this part out, and you can do everything else right and still end up with a so-so result.

The diet side is a modified elimination diet, not a fast. You're eating real food, organic or pasture-raised proteins, non-starchy vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, while skipping refined sugar, gluten, dairy, alcohol, and processed oils for the week. Hydration matters too: aim for at least two quarts of water a day, along with 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night, since most repair happens while you sleep. Exercise is fine, just keep it light. Your body's already spending energy on the reset itself.

A few special considerations. This program isn't for anyone pregnant or nursing. If you tend to run constipated, start Move Along two nights early rather than on day one; you never want to begin a reset already backed up. If you know you're a sensitive responder, whether from higher toxin exposure or a slower natural detox pathway, start low and build gradually: one scoop of Vitality Mix daily for the first few days instead of jumping straight to two scoops twice a day. If you're on regular medication, check with your provider first for interactions. And to be clear on scope, this supports diet, digestion, and toxin clearance. It's not a heavy metal detox, which needs a different, more clinical approach.

What Customers Say

"I suffer from poor sleep quality and frequent headaches. I did the 7 Day Detox and my husband did the 10 Day Detox. Within 4 days I was sleeping better and by the end of the 7th day my headaches had completely went away! My husband stated his joint aches were markedly diminished after about day 3." Andrea W.

"Fantastic 7 day detox. Super simple instructions and the two shakes a day were filling and tasted great. Had a great 'lean and green' meal at night. This is exactly what I needed to reset." Wayne P.

"Wasn't sure what to expect but really liked how I felt after the 7 days. I also started the Berberine 5x and feel this combo helped jump start less sugar cravings all day long! I look forward to doing the 7 day reset again." Cathy I.

"During the detox I felt amazing. I was able to cut the sugar, carb, and coffee addictions I had." Tricia D.

"I love calling it reset because that is totally what it is. I plan to do it a few times every year." Leslie A. Davis

The Bottom Line

The first few days are genuinely harder than people expect, and that's normal, not a sign you're doing something wrong. It gets easier by day four most of the time, and the people who've actually done it come back and do it again, on purpose, a few times a year. That was always the point. Not a punishment you survive once, a reset you can return to.

You don't need a juice cleanse. You just need seven days.
